Excel couldn’t find PowerOLAP.xla Add-in error
1. Issue: Error prompt
This error indicates an add-in of a previous build that no longer exists i.e., PowerOLAP.xla. This was replaced with PowerOLAPAddin.xlam.
"Sorry, we couldn't find C:\Program Files (x86)\PowerOLAP\PowerOLAP.xla. Is it possible it was moved, renamed or deleted?"
2. Solution
- Navigate to Add-ins (File >> Options >> Add-ins >> Manage: Excel Add-ins >> Go)
- Deselect PowerOLAP.xla add-in
- When prompted to delete or remove add-in
- Confirm deletion or removal
- The Excel Add-ins should only be PowerOLAPCore.xll and PowerOLAPAddin.xlam
Should the Error prompt still pop up, the add-in can manually be disabled by removing it from the registry.
1. Execute regedit to open Registry Editor. The quickest way to do this is to launch the command from the Run dialog box, which you can access via the WIN+R keyboard shortcut.
2. Once in the registry navigate to Excel Options (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Excel\Options). As shown below:
3. Right click on the options OPEN1 and OPEN2 and select delete.
4. You will receive a pop up to confirm the deletion of the registry value as shown below:
5. Select Yes and launch Excel.
The add-in should now be removed from Excel.
