Installation for Multiple User Accounts on a Single Machine 


Note: (This is solution is for PowerExcel version 22.011.001)


Steps to follow:

On Administrator User Profile:

  • Ensure PowerExcel is installed correctly on Administrator Account.
  • Check and test functionality.
  • Download the attached PowerExcel – Multi-User Setup.zip file and move it to a preferred location in the C: Drive , called Paris Installers here. (Create a new folder if needed)

  • Extract zip file in Paris Installers folder on C Drive and you will notice two setup folders within the directory.

  • Select PowerExcel – Multi-User Setup Step 1 and copy it. Navigate to C Drive and Paste the folder inside the ProgramData folder as shown below. (ProgramData is available to all users from hidden items)

  • Next navigate to Control Panel and uninstall the PowerExcel VSTO file. (This file is user specific at this point and needs to be uninstalled and then reinstalled later so it can be used by all users within a machine.)
  • Once the PowerExcel VSTO has been uninstalled successfully navigate to PowerExcel – Multi-User Setup Step 1.
  • Run the Setup.exe from within the PowerExcel – Multi-User Setup Step 1 folder as shown below.

  • Notice the VSTO file is no longer stored under “User Account” but instead installed under ProgramData which is accessible to all users within the machine.

On other user account, do the following:

 

  • Ensure Excel is Activated on new users’ profile before running installation setup. (Open Excel)
  • Close Excel.
  • Navigate to C: Drive\ProgramData and open PowerExcel – Multi-User Setup Step 2 folder.
  • Open the Windows Batch File. (This will create a Folder in C:\Users\*UserName*\AppData\Roaming to save an Olation License file)

  • Navigate to C:\ProgramData and open the PowerExcel – Multi-User Setup Step 1 folder
  • Run the Setup.exe

  • Open Excel.
  • You will be prompted to contact Paris Technologies to update your PowerExcel License, click OK.

  • On the PowerExcel ribbon click on “Change License”
  • Proceed to License PowerExcel.
  • Close Excel to confirm changes and Open again to use as expected.
